Clingon

Clingon

Starting the lead of P2 of Clingon (5.9) on Snake Rock at Smith. Shirley's belaying. Though a bit chossy, two of the three cracks look attractive. However, a large teetering "death block" (next to my face) sitting at their base made me turn back...would've made for a bad day had it gone. Photo credit goes to our Nikon Coolpix & tripod & esp. our friend A. who did adjust the shooting angle on it after P1. Arete on right is Split Image an Alan Watts classic clocking in at 5.12 c/d (Sept. 2007).

saw a huge piece go on EEOR this year...passed another right after, that was barely hanging on...been underneath it for 7 pitches!....it is best to spend any extra luck one has in Vegas...Smith Rocks...looks like fun times, going to have to find my way back soon...cheers

Re: good call....

Scary sh.t for sure & not worth it....in retrospect, there's a set of anchors atop the sport line on the right. That would've put Shirley out of harm's way but I might have taken out some passer-by's. Let me know when you might be back at Smithy - would be cool to meet up for a pitch or a picther :)

PS don't recommend Hub Motel anymore...prices went up and quality went down.
