Meeker/Longs/NHBeautiful picture! I have a similar picture of orographic uplift clouds here in NH(http://community.webshots.com/photo/498569849/519668171RhtkjZ). I hiked Longs Peak about 1 week before your trip and was lucky enough to beat the crowds.
Keep hiking!

Re: Meeker/Longs/NHTom -- Looks like you had a wild weather day as well! So often I hear people talk about the weather as something imposed upon us, sent down from above. One of the things I love about elevation is that you are *in* the weather (as in your photo)... the scale continues to dwarf us, but the experience actually becomes intimate at the same time. Of course this intimacy sometimes isn't a good thing... but it's always exciting. --- Joe

Interplay of clouds and mountains...... is a favorite subject of mine also! This is one of the best, the dynamic nature of it is fantastic. Great shot.

Re: Interplay of clouds and mountains...I'm glad that some of the vitality of the cloud comes through in the photo. It was an awesome (in the plain, literal sense of that word) experience to stand in the Loft and watch the moisture form, rise, and twist. Fear and beauty.
