Fantastic Run!  Sucess!

Took my lazy ass on a focused run to Cloud's Rest. Something like 13 miles in 4 hours was sufficient to call it a great day.

Better views than Half Dome  Sucess!

Day hiked this one with Michael E. from our campsite in Little Yosemite the day after hiking Half Dome. Well worth the effort.

Backpack  Sucess!

Day 2 of a 3 day trek starting and ending at Happy Isles. Spent the first day up the Mist Trail and then followed the Merced past LYV. Caught some bows and browns along the way near Bunnell Cascade, we sewt up camp near Merced Lake. Towards the end of day 2 we made our way up the eastern route to Clouds Rest and joined the group of people already enjoying the view. We spoke to a couple finishing the JMT who were spending their last night near the summit. We then proceeded down the western trail and camped near the JMT intersection to summit Half Dome the next morning.

Fine hike  Sucess!

The air was tinged with fire smoke and the trail from Sunrise was a bit dusty, but views over the valley and especially Tenaya were still great. Not an overabundance of people on a Friday.

From Sunrise TH at Tenaya Lake  Sucess!

Incredible views and beautiful trail. It could probably be done with just a water filter. Two stream crossings to start, unnamed lake about half way, and two stream crossings after the lake.

Out and back from Tenaya Lake  Sucess!

I didn't have any issues with altitude, but this was hard for me for some reason. Lots of rough rock on the trail, wore out my feet using trail runners.

Re: Out and back from Tenaya Lake

I wore thicker boots and the rock still took an unexpected toll on my feet, even though I was fairly well conditioned.

NE Ridge Hike  Sucess!

Fun day hike with MHW from Tenaya Lake up through magnificent forest. The final push along the ridge is enjoyable. Great position and views from the summit. Staring down the endless waves of granite into Tenaya Canyon and across at the enormous South Face of Mt. Watkins was mesmerizing.

Peaceful  Sucess!

A long but peaceful hike. Beautiful flowers. The knife ridge wasn't as bad as I was anticipating. A great hike!

From Tenaya Lake  Sucess!

Slept 2.5 hours in the car before starting out on the trail. Hiking before dawn kept the three of us cool and we were rewarded with a stunning sunrise to the east. We hung out at the summit of Clouds Rest for an hour and a half before hiking back to Tenaya Lake and taking a refreshing swim. Fantastic hike!

I can see for miles  Sucess!

It was a long, hot, dry hike from Tenaya Lake, but the view was well worth.

From Tenaya Lake  Sucess!

Great views up top, especially considering how accessible it is with the trail. This makes it great for taking friends who wouldn't necessarily be down for more involved off trail peak bagging.

Gorgeous day  Sucess!

Via NW Ridge. We managed to squeeze in this hike on one of the few storm-free days this summer!

From Valley Floor  Sucess!

Great backpacking trip from the valley floor. We started hiking the day after a snowstorm 4-6 inches of snow, so the park was relatively empty. Set up camp around the junction between the split in the trail for Half Dome and Clouds Rest. The next day mainly consisted of a slog through the snow; we were the first ones up since the snow, so route finding was a bit tricky. The last 500 feet were quite difficult due to nearly 2 feet of snow, but the view from the top was well worth the trouble. Did a quick trip up Liberty Cap on the way out; great way to end the trip.
