Excellent page dwhike! When I visited NC back in 1998, the only two mountains in NC I knew about were Mount Mitchell and Cold Mountain. Cold Mountain because of Charles Frazier's bestselling and Pulitzer Prize winning Cold Mountain novel. A nice and welcome addition to SP :-)
great page! I only suggest that you maybe add some links concerning infos about Black Balsam Knob Area, the campsites located along the Art Loeb and Cold Mountain Trails, lodging/accomodation and public transportation.
Great page. I always wondered about this mountain because it was at some distance from the other Balsam mtns. Are you going to do a page on Richland Balsam?
