A little cloudy. Great Views!
Nice quick snowshoe trip on a beautiful day. Lot at Berthoud Pass filled up with ski & snowboard traffic by 9AM.
Good to have a trail.
From Berthoud, this is a pretty easy acclimation hike. Basically the definition of class 1 on the way up, you follow a wonderful dirt road. Ugly summit, but amazing views! There is a small trail just north of the utility poles if you need a bailout option for the descent.
First Peak on the ridge to Parry Peak. Great Hike
The first of seven peaks I hiked (eleven if you count repeats on the return) on a trip along the continental divide - together with Bancroft, Parry (twice), Eva (twice), Wittier, Breckenridge, and Flora (3 times, with a night on the summit). A very long day up high!
Bummed that we didn't make it over to Flora but the day was getting long, etc. Weather started out snowy with low visibility but quickly improved.
Good peak for the views alone. Climbed the north ridge from the Mines/Flora saddle.
Good warm-up with my new fiance. This was her first Colorado peak and first peak over 7,000 feet! Had some snow on the way down and got to see some impressive cornices on the west ridge of Flora.
4/12/08- slogged up colorado mines from berthoud pass in a windstorm with jamie. we made it halfway to flora before giving up and running home. whoa, it was windy; i was half expecting random rocks to fly across our path!
2/26/10- scooted over colorado mines on my way to the 13er, mount flora. area seemed the same way i left it 2 years prior as the wind and snow had teamed up with low visibility to make for a doozy of an outing.
Hiked these 3 mountains before work in early septembr, 2008 from Berthoud pass.
Ben and I did the East Ridge Direct with the exciting rappel then traversed Parry, Eva, Flora and CO Mines to Berthod Pass.
Hiked up Colorado Mines, Flora and Breckinridge, and made an attempt at Cone, from Berthoud Pass following the Continental Divide Trail most of the way. Easy hike on a nice day, although dark clouds started moving in so we only got about half way to Cone before turning back. While the Trails Illustrated map shows the trail summiting Breckinridge, it skirts the summit to the north.
2 hours and forty minutes up, 1 hour down. Still alot of snow; I had snowshoes on from the parking lot to the summit. Afterwards, my cigarette tasted mighty fine! Muah!
Wife, dog and I. Not a soul around.
2/4/06 - Started out a nice winter day at Berthoud Pass, but conditions were nasty up on the ridge. Climbed Colorado Mines, Flora and Breckinridge but decided to save Eva & Witter for some other (perhaps more pleasant) day.
2/28/10 - Return trip, this time in slightly better weather. Climbed Colorado Mines, Flora, Eva & Witter. Heavy snow fell on the descent and an avy later closed the Berthoud Pass road.
Summited Flora and Breckenridge. Nice winter ascent. PERFECT day!
This was my first climb of Colorado Mines Peak & Mount Flora. We climbed from Berthoud Pass. I climbed them again on 4-27-96.
Beautiful day - except for the wind. Climbed with Haliku and another friend who left us to get some turns in while we climbed. The views are great and Flora gives enough of a different perspective to reward you for the additional work.
7/7/13 - A quick climb with Peakbug from Berthoud Pass before heading over to Flora.
Only 1/2 successful. Was hoping to do both, but it was waaay too windy!! Only made it to CO Mines.
