Up from Mirror Lake  Sucess!

A good uphill hike from Corral Creek. The trail marked on the map doesn't really exist but cairns and common sense will get you to the top. Great views!

Comanche Peak - Point 12,716 - Fall Mountain  Sucess!

Climbed all three with my girlfriend Meghan from the Emmaline Lake/Mummy Pass Trailhead. The views of other Mummy Range peaks during the ascent from Emmaline Lake were spectacular.

Way back when  Sucess!

Lived in Ft. Collins 1970 to 1980 and passed over Commanche peak on one of my long treks. From there I came south on Mirror Lake trail then up to and past Mirror Lake itself. What an awesome valley! It was pristine and isolated back then--truly paradise.

From Coral Creek TH  Sucess!

I saw elk on this one but not sure how well the bow hunters were doing. So much for relying on topo maps for elevation accuracy. I didn't bother going to point 12,716 which is listed as 12,681 but climbed all three points on Commanche Peak proper. I suppose I need to go back?? Well it was a beautiful hike over to Fall Mountain and Mummy Pass so it was well worth it.

via Old Morrill Trail  Sucess!

Four of us hiked from Pingree Park, following the Old Morrill Trail (maintained by Pingree Park) up near timberline. From there, it was a straightforward ascent along the eastern ridgeline to the summit.

Emmaline Lake  Sucess!

Great day. From Emmaline I headed more or less N gaining the ridge below Comanche and heading around from there. Easy scramble. From there around to Fall and out Mummy Pass trail. (Why is it that the descent via Mummy Pass trail always seems so long?)

From Mummy Pass Trail  Sucess!

Total ascents = 3. Started up the Mummy Pass Trail then got up onto the East Ridge of Comanche Peak for the last mile, or so, to the summit.

Route Climbed: Fall to Comanche Traverse Date Climbed: November, 2002  Sucess!

We parked at some trailhead (Mummy Pass?) in Pingree Park & simply went straight for the NE shoulder of Fall Mtn, following that to the summit. After summiting, we followed the ridge of the cirque west while scouting for coulior and/or ice climbing potential (and there is much of it by the way!). We hit the summit of Comanche and then took no particular trail down, but rather followed the creek back down to the car.

**Note of caution - This area of Roosevelt NF is seasonal home to many hunters in the fall. To best preserve your life, know when their season starts & stops. We learned the hard way by breaking trail during bow hunting season. The hunters we encountered were not happy with us, as we effectively spooked any would be kill out of the area!

Route Climbed: Emmaline Lake Date Climbed: October 4, 2003  Sucess!

A great fall day for a fun hike. I hiked up Emmaline Lake Trail past Emmaline Lake to the summit of Comanche Peak. Then I swung around to the south and bagged Fall Mountain on my way to hooking up with Mummy Pass Trail and heading back to the car. What a great loop hike and the views of the Mummy Range and Never Summer Range were amazing!
