Similar look to San Rafael Swell to the north:

Basically extending north and south, then turning southwest, Comb Ridge is a beautiful natural feature that cannot go unnoticed. It is most striking going east on Utah highway 95 (bicentennial, trail of the ancients) toward Blanding. A georgeous view is from a highway monument called "Salvation Knoll Viewpoint". The feature extends near 80 miles from northwest of Blanding and all the way to Kayenta in Arizona. The highway approach and cut toward the east end took alot of work. Waterpocket Fold in Capitol Reef National Park is another, similar natural feature. All three of these sandstone shapes have been eroded over many thousands of years.

Ancient history

Native American residents believed Comb Ridge to be the "backbone of the continent". Navajo Mountain is the head, another very important part of the whole.
