From Big Tujunga Canyon Road via the Condor Trail and after hitting Fox first.
Hit Condor and Fox Saturday, spent the night below Iron Mtn #2 then bagged Iron Mtn #2 and Gleason the following day...made horrible decision trying to hack through Trail Canyon Trail on the way out, eventually gave up and headed straight up the ridge along Big Cienega to re-connect with Condor Peak Trail.
with Fox #2
A long, hot day starting at Mill Creek Saddle and tagging 4 HPS Peaks along the way – Gleason, Iron # 2, Condor, & Fox # 2. Finished the hike with a car shuttle at MM 4.50 on Big Tujunga Canyon Road.
Hot day. Did Fox and Condor in a nice, long hike.
Hiked up from Big Tujunga Canyon Rd just east of Vogel Flats. Bagged Fox Mountain before traversing the up and down ridge, with great views all around, on the way to Condor Peak. Clear weather early which became hazy as the day went on. Unfortunately, no summit register on either peak.
Hiked up with my dad via the 4.50 mile marker, tagged Fox then made it up to Condor. This was a great hike.
Hiked on the Condor Peak Trail from Vogel Flats to Fox #2 and further to Condor Peak on a very warm day in October. Very nice views down from the ridge between Fox and Condor.
See Bob and Matthews posts.
Went up the Condor Peak trail and down Trail Canyon with a Sierra Club group. Nice spot.
Hiked Fox, Condor and Iron as a loop. Had to walk 2.5 miles along the highway back to the car. Beautiful day!
Here is my GPS Data and Google Map of the Track
Hiked from Vogel Flat on Big Tujunga Cyn Road. IMHO Condor is one of the most under-appreciated mountains of the San Gabriels.
Paid for the late start on a very hot day. Tagged Fox # 2 first that was fine. With little sun protection from summit to summit and near 90 degrees on condor it made for a miserable final push. Took a nap under a shrub on the summit and had to carefully ration the water on the return.
Did this one and Iron #2 from the back door.
Good hike with a fun ridge to climb to the summit. Quite a bit of road hiking from the north side.
Forecast was for rain but the skies didn't buy it. Tom Becht (bechtt) and I went anyway and it turned out to be a beautiful day. Started out on Condor Peak Trail and first went to Fox #2. We then started across the connecting ridge to Condor. We thought Condor was a bump or two further across but after 30 minutes we ran across an ex-Marine sitting on one of the bumps and he told us we were there. I confirmed it by taking a compass bearing back to Fox #2. Couldn't believe we had gotten there so quick. From there, on to Iron #2 and return via Trail Canyon Trail.
With Augie Medina (Mountain Impulse). Second of three peaks on what was supposed to be a rainy day but turned out to be perfect weather. We almost kept going thinking that the interesting bump on the west end was the high point. 30 minutes from Fox #2. On to Iron #2, returning via Trail Creek trail.
Went with WTC, started early, came back in the dark. Lots of stream crossings, good thing the water wasn't to high at this time of year.
It was kind of a long walk, but the temps were just perfect. Now, if we could only do something about that haze!
