Nice work...

Great job on this. How long did it take you to hike up when you went? I'm a novice HP'er myself, and Elbert is on the list this year or next. How much training/conditiong did you do beforehand?

Also...

Did you hit any other highpoints on your drive?

Rand McNally

I also used to look at those triangles in the Road Atlas and think about going to each one when I was a kid. (And now I've done 22, I think.)

Ditto, Bro

I had a very similar experience on Humphry's Peak near Flagstaff, AZ in JAN 2016. We were trying to hike the highest peaks in several states. There was a snow storm the day before our hike. We were not ever sure where was the trail. Every step our snowshoes were sucked into deep powder. Finally we timed how much elevation we gained in an hour. It took an hour to climb 600 ft in that powder. At hour 6 we knew we wouldn't be able to make it. I hate to admit it that it is refreshing to see someone else write about failing. Good for the soul.

Hope you went back and got Humphreys with a vengeance!
