Nice November hike, although my last two walking hours were in the dark. The rock was surprisingly enjoyable at the top.
With Philippe Errera. Trip report.
Climbed the point named "Crag Peak" on the topo map, then went up the higher spire to the north. Stopped a few yards short of the summit - the climbing looked easy but I didn't like the exposure.
Below freezing over night at Kennedy Meadows. No snow seen anywhere. Spent the 2nd night at the camp ground (no water or toilet paper!), then drove over to Smith the next morning.
Solo hike. Tagged Jackass Peak, too.
Official PCS trip led by me, with Jean, Eddie and Jeff. We followed PCT for 5 miles and then turned west toward the peak. The final north ridge was fine, we were riding on it to across! Fun!
Hiked up from the PCT which has been rerouted in a circuitous approach. Found the old trail back. With Jon B and Zeus the dog.
Good class 3 scrambling along the ridge. Knife edge section before the summit. Little snow until 400 feet from summit.
Had some trouble locating the highpoint from the eastern approach. Turned out to be much further north than we thought. Trip Report.
Lovely and quiet fall outing. Enjoyed the scrambling on the summit and the view to the north. Hit Smith Mountain on the way out right at sunset.
Fun scrambling along the summit ridge with great views north into the High Sierra. Lots of beautiful meadows to look at too.
