Views from the Mono Crater Mountain

The Mono Craters are a small range of volcanic domes south of Mono Lake and east of the Sierra. Crater Mountain, the high point, offers extensive views of the Mono Basin and the High Sierra to the west and south.
From the junction of Hwy, 120 with Hwy. 395 , go south 5 miles and turn left on Hwy. 120. Drive 3 miles to a forest road that goes south and skirts the east side of the craters and go south 1 3/4 miles. Turn left. The sandy dirt road goes up to the base of the peak. Be careful not to get stuck in the sand if you approach it with 2 wheel drive. If it gets dicey, you can park further down.
