Interesting

Is this another type of Oregon grape (if there is one)? The flowers certainly appears to be OG but the leaves are not the typical holly shape. Or is it hidden underneath the green leaves in this photo?

Re: Interesting

This is Creeping Oregon Grape, though the leaves in the picture don't look it. I had a difficult time composing a “good” picture which included both flowers and "typical" leaves. I finally gave up and concentrated on the flowers.

This plant did have some of the holly-type leaves, but they didn't make it into the picture. Here in the Bitterroots, I often see Oregon Grape plants with a wide variation of leaves (on the same plant) – all the way from holly-shaped to smooth-edged. Interesting indeed!

Re: Interesting

Thanks Brian,

Thanks for the compliment on my pictures. Now that I've converted my HEAVY Nikon equiment to slightly lighter weight Nikon (digital), I expect to be taking even more pictures than before.

Mike
