Really cool!

That the youngster made it with you! Dogs dance up and down mountains while people struggle.

Re: Really cool!

Duchess was pretty amazing on both Crestones. She does not like the loose rock of Elk range in Colorado, but the solid rock suits her well. She did over 40 fourteeners.

Re: Really cool!

How many dogs achieve such a feat! She may have the record!

Re: Really cool!

Thank you...I am not sure how other dogs are doing on fourteeners, but I think that Duchess is about finished. I did take her up Maroon Bell and had to turn around about 800 ft below the summit. She was refusing to go and had bloody paws. I felt horrible (dog abuser?)... she is 10 years old now, and cannot keep up with me on long runs.
She did so great on Crestones, Kit Carson, even Little Bear when hourglass was under the snow....She seems so happy outdoors, and gives me sad looks when I go out without her...

Re: Really cool!

Duchess says Thank you... She is happy outdoors even when she sometimes suffers... but I guess most of us feel the same...

Duchess

might just have a world record in climbing among dogs. I am not sure I will ever have as many 14s under my belt.

Re: Duchess

Sure you can... most of the Colorado fourteeners are just walks up the hill, especially in the summer. I did once 5 in 1 day (it was nearly 22 hrs straight)
