I was hearing ...that the ROUTE completely bypasses Disappointment Cleaver, EVEN more SO today, because of the glacial melting. I did the cleaver route in 1984; was rewarded by a view of the CRATER. St. Helens had already erupted!

Of course ...The only thing CONSTANT in NATURE is CHANGE. August is a challenging month to climb Rainier.
