Crux on White Baldy east ridge

Crux on White Baldy east ridge

The crux on White Baldy's east ridge, the final ascent of the Bullion Divide route. On the ascent, I didn't like the looks of steep granite cloaked with trees. I downclimbed 100', traversed west, and regained the ridge west of White Baldy. On the descent I could see the terrain better and found a class 4 route around this crux. September 12, 2006

Whole lotta granite

So did you go West to East on the Bullion Divide route?

Re: Whole lotta granite

I went east to west, from Sugarloaf to White Baldy. I notice you did the same but started with Devils Castle - was that tricky without a rope?(or did you rope up?)

Re: Whole lotta granite

I've only been on Devil's once, and it was East to West--no rope needed, it was fairly easy and safe, but certainly exposed in spots.
