Crystal Peak via Crystal Lakes
Headed out at first light from the Spruce Creek TH. Hiked the road up to Lower Crystal Lake and then the trail to just before Upper Crystal Lake. B-lined to the Crystal/Peak 10 saddle then the Class 2 route up to Crystal Peak. Clear fall day with colors changing in the Blue River Valley. Views west to the Elks, north to the Medicine Bows.

5th ascent, this time the SW ridge via Mayflower Hill. Considering the dry start to Colorado's ski season, the traverse below the NW face of Pacific was deeper than expected and very time consuming. Unconsolidated snow between talus resulted in many knee to waist deep postholes between the rocks. Luckily only one small knee bruise, as those talus traps can really beat up your legs! I felt fortunate to have avoided worse.
From Peak 10, nice and easy ridge, nice views of Tenmile Range.

Solitude
I was offered a job in Seattle last month. Told my boss I could not do it. He replied, "Better title, more money, more power, you ok giving that up?" I respectfully declined. Today's solo joy on the SW ridge, and every other excellent Colorado day are the reasons why. Lots of snow and postholing, but loved it. Totally alone with superb weather. Fun easy route.
