Via Mayflower Gulch  Sucess!

Crystal clear day on Crystal. A lot more snow on the ridge than I anticipated, but it made for a fun climb.

with Peak 10  Sucess!

I climbed Crystal along with Peak 10 via the Crystal Lakes route.

From Spruce Creek  Sucess!

Climbed Crystal with a couple of friends. Two of us continued on to Peak 10 and then 9, where the other guy picked us up. A great link-up if you have a friend with a Jeep who doesn't mind driving it.

From Mayflower Creek  Sucess!

Started in Mayflower Creek, although took the mining road over to Humbug Creek. Snowshoes a very good idea.

Keeping on after Father Dyer  Sucess!

A lot of fun to get back on some early season snow. Great views all around, smoke included.

Nice hike after Father Dyer  Sucess!

With Eric Holle. Great views. A bit smokey from CA fires, could even smell it. Fun steep descent direct to lower lake. Beautiful day.

SW Ridge (Crystal-Pacific-Atlantic)  Sucess!

The first of three peaks for the day. Started from Mayflower Gulch. Combining these three peaks makes for a great tour. Still a fair amount of snow in the area. Besides the wind is was a perfect day!

After Peak 10

Climbed Peak 10 and saw this peak and the Crystal lakes below. Did the ridge from Peak 10 and decided to descend to the lakes cause it was just getting plain too late to summit and make it back at a decent hour. That means 10pm, not 2-3am the next day. I had gotten to the top of Peak 10 around 4pm, but the beauty of the area was just too captivating to leave right away. Still had to find my way back to town on foot, didn't have a map.

Winter Summit: SW Ridge over Mayflower Hill  Sucess!

Avoiding avalanche was the main thought of the day with a considerable to high danger, 6 inches of new snow falling and heavy SW winds. Very deep unconsolidated snow below treeline, ridge running over Mayflower Hill and climbing above all the avy chutes in route made this a long 10 hour day. At one point below treeline, my buddie sank up to his shoulders straight into the snow. The last 1/2 mile of trailbreaking was possibly the most difficult hiking ever for me, and it was downhill!!!

SW Ridge in Winter  Sucess!

Climbed the SW Ridge route from Mayflower Gulch with shanahan96 and jamienellis. Beautiful day in the mountains, but as usual in January cold and windy on the ridge. Snow conditions were good, there is a nice trench in place now if you want to get this one before the next storms! The ridge was pretty much all talus, no need for snowshoes above the saddle.

From Father Dyer  Sucess!

Summited on the East Ridge via Helen and Father Dyer. The scramble took a lot out of me, so getting up this guy was a struggle. After sitting on the summit for a while and contemplating the extra 400 ft of climbing to get Pk 10, decided to go for it. 4 13ers in one pass, not bad.

Solitude on Crystal  Sucess!

My friend Jake and I summited via the amazing Spruce Creek basin. Lots of nice lakes and running water. The views of Pacific Peak convinced us to summit it as well. We saw no one until we descended Pacific into Spruce Creek basin and returned to the lower lakes.

East Ridge  Sucess!

Great climb along the East Ridge with buddies Altitude14er & Wyatt. Great scrambling, adrenalizing exposure, and some high 4th-low 5th class moves if you're willing to climb them! Highly recommended!

The difficulty was Class 4 scrambling on the ridge top in between Father Dyer & Mt. Helen. Got three peaks in a day!

Another great peak  Sucess!

From Peak 10 once and then on 06/25/2005 my wife and I did the Helen-Father Dyer-Crystal combo which is simply incredible. Great Scrambling.

via Peak 10's east ridge  Sucess!

Climbed Crystal with Peak 10 from the Spruce Creek 2WD TH with still lots of snow on the ridges in late April. Nice glissades on the way down on stable snow.
