From Father Dyer
Came over from Father Dyer. Nice early winter outing. Just enough snow to make it really tiring, but really fun. Nice into to what Colorado has to offer

Fun Day
What a great day! Headed up the unrelenting slopes of Helen and then traversed to Father Dyer and then on to Crystal. Wanted to head over to Peak 9 and 10, but were stormed off at Crystal.

With Peak 10
Via the Crystal Lakes route. A perfect fall day and a dusting on snow on the surrounding peaks. Traversed over to Peak 10 as well.
Nice loop hike. The ridge to Father Dyer was the best part, but coming down off of Father Dyer was tedious. Had the dog with me - otherwise I probably would have come back over Mt Helen. (class3 ridge, I hear.)

Traverse from Father Dyer
Great views from the summit and did not see anybody all day long on the mountain. Traverse over from Father Dyer was a little loose in place and not as much fun as the NE ridge up Father Dyer.
Group climb from Mayflower with Scot, Scott, Colin, Craig and Shawn. Good kick off to the winter season, lots of trailbreakers and a nice clear day!

Excellent Day
A group of 6 of us climbed Crystal Peak from Mayflower Gulch. I used skis until just below the saddle with Pacific, then walked to the summit. After attempting Atlantic the day before we camped out at treeline. It was pretty comfortable winter camping due to no wind, a large new tent, and lots of beer. Having this many friends along made for a fun trip.

3x
10/1/05 - Standard loop over Crystal, Pacific & Atlantic from Mayflower Gulch.
5/30/09 - Intended on climbing Pacific's North Couloir from Mohawk Lakes but found unstable snow conditions. Posthole city and fresh point releases everywhere. Climbed Crystal's south slopes as a consolation prize. Planned on running ridge to Father Dyer and Helen but dark clouds at 9am put a stop to that too. A horrible day.
1/28/18 - Windy winter ascent from Spruce Creek Trailhead via Peak 10. We descended from the saddle between the two which required finessing some some avy terrain. Going back up and over Peak 10 is a safer option, and likely the only reasonable one in typical winter conditions (we had below normal snow and better than normal avy conditions).

Climbed from Mayflower Gulch en route to Pacific and Atlantic. I had to bushwhack a little while crossing Mayflower Creek. I had all three to myself today. Great weather too.

With Fr. D from Crystal Lakes, out via Mohawk Lakes
Approached via the lovely Crystal Lake route. Summitted Crystal (three parties from three approaches converged on the summmit at almost the same time). Continued onto Father Dyer. Descended down north slope between Dyer and Helen into Mohawk Lakes. Slope was painfully steep, I don't recommend that return route. Partners: Carol & Deb.
