Ridge Run

Ridge run with Rachael and Scot, starting at 12955. Glad to have a car shuttle so we could descend off Maxwell. Not as much snow down here as in the northern part of the state, so made a nice farewell to fall hiking for us before winter really sets in!

via Maxwell  Sucess!

Did it the easy way, via Mount Maxwell. Windy cold, and sunny. One day in and out. Saw other cars but no other hikers.

Newbie's second thirteener....

After climbing West Spanish Peak the year before, I decided Cuatro looked doable. Camped at Purgatoire CG, hiked north on the North Fork Trail for about 30 minutes and turned left, west, hoping to intersect the large ridge between Hell's and Toby Canyon. After an hour bushwacking I could see ridgeline and was on course, negotiating a passage through the scrub bush barrier led to the steep, but grassy ridge to summit. Dropped down the north ridge and descended east to find the trail back to camp.

Via Maxwell's East Ridge  Sucess!

Great weather, good friends and awesome snow conditions. Definitely a long way to drive AND hike for an obscure 13er.
Tagged: Maxwell Peak, "Leaning South Peak" & "Leaning North Peak" same trip.
Beautiful area. Just need to visit it in summer now.
