via Ice House Canyon  Sucess!

Just enough snow to get your attention but not need micro spikes.

Great views  Sucess!

Views of Baldy almost constant. Views from the peak were excellent.

I took a short detour to Etiwanda Peak on the way down. That was about 1 hour (maybe 90 minutes?) round trip, I believe. Etiwanda lacks the tree cover of Cucamonga, so it was very windy up there. It felt great after making quick pace on the way up.

Long, snow, challenging, fun...on the way up.  Sucess!

Did this a couple years ago with a buddy and his son. Upper trail was clogged with snow but no big deal. FUN!! Top was interesting and nice! Way out never stopped!!

What a View from the Top!  Sucess!

Last training hike before the Hood/Shasta climbs. Summited under perfect weather conditions and camped at the summit overlooking the city below. Incredible views from the top. I highly recommend!

Icehouse Canyon  Sucess!

Solid day hike. The ledge provided some awesome photography. Not quite as challenging as any of the three saints, but a good one to accomplish in San Gabriels.

good views  Sucess!

the view into the LA basin is impressive. Quite a bit of vertical relief. Icehouse canyon also pleasant. Still some snow up high but avoidable.

Nice views  Sucess!

On June 6, 2016, I along with hundreds of other Angelinos hiked to the summit of Cucamonga Peak via Icehouse Canyon. At least there weren't the thousands of Angelinois almost certainly pleasant on nearby Baldy. The hike was beautiful, starting out in a shady canyon with lots of deciduous trees, and eventually ascending to the San Gabriel Hike Country with great views of Baldy, Ontario, Telegraph, and other peaks.

Perfect Day  Sucess!

Via Icehouse Canyon/Cucamonga Peak Trail. Had one solo climber ahead of my daughter and I on the way up and met one guy coming down. We were at the top for a bite and pics while a few small parties arrived. Passed about 15 folks on the way down before reaching the IHC saddle. After that we had to crowd surf our way to back to the parking lot. Great weather, quiet for 3/4 of the time and a great break from the Baldy crowds.
