From 4-Way  Sucess!

Group climb of Culebra. Nice weather, a bit chilly but nice. Shared the summit with a marmot.

This was a climb of Culebra. We paid the extra $50 and climbed Red as well. We were hurried on the way back from Red by a thunder storm. This was my third climb of Culebra and my second climb of Red.

Franklin Peak...errrr Culebra Peak  Sucess!

Hiked the "standard" route up Culebra on a ever changing weather day with great friends Alan and Patrick. Although I'm still partially bugged about paying $100 to hike to the summit (I know, I know it's private property), I have to say it is probably the prettiest 14er I've hiked in a long time. Abundant marmots with young, an elk herd below treeline and a sweet 4WD road to the upper lot with little impact from humanity in the sense of not a well worn trail but one heck of a cairn midway up. Worth it...

nellis' finisher  Sucess!

hiked culebra with my baby, jamie nellis, to celebrate her finishing the fourteeners! clouds moved in early and the took views with them. we had fun nonetheless. a lost side trip to red mountain was the lone causality of the cool, spooky ridge walk in the clouds.

congrats baby, i love you!

Mt. $100!!!  Sucess!

Spent the day in and out of the clouds going up the ridge route and down the Roach route with climbing partners Alan and Robert.

Roach's route  Sucess!

Finally sucked it up and shelled out...pleasantly surprised with the mountain. Fun. Also climbed Red. Fourteener #36.

NW Ridge  Sucess!

After an exhausting climb the previous week in the Blanca group, it was nice to take a leisurely stroll up this expensive heap of rocks. Traversed to Red afterward.

Standard w/ Red  Sucess!

"Economic Stimulus Refund Climb 2008"
Climbed the standard route and continued on to Red. Started out with the group but went on ahead to make sure I got my moneys worth ;-)

Culebra with the pup  Sucess!

Marni and I joined a group of friendly dog owners for the first legal dog climbing of Culebra peak in 10 years (or so we heard). It was a pretty cold and windy day but the snow was manageable and we got the summit in sunshine. Number 9 for me and Marni and number 53 for another Golden Retriever we were with, Sawyer. Thanks to Josh for organizing the trip.

Mountain Lion  Sucess!

This was my second climb of Culebra. There was still lots of snow on the mountain & the blocking the road before Four Way. There was also a mother mountain lion with a couple cubs watching us from her den.

Paid the money  Sucess!

This was my first climb of Culebra. Since I was up there I walked over and got Red Mountain as well.

Culebra Peak and Red Mountain  Sucess!

From Cielo Vista Ranch, paid the $150.00 and hiked the Northwest Ridge to Culebra Peak and continued on to Red Mountain. This was the last day of the year that Cielo Vista Ranch was allowing climbers on their property. Hunters came for the remainder of the year.

Taylor Ranch  Sucess!

Not really a great climb, but worth checking it out.

Good times  Sucess!

I hiked Culebra with a group from and had a great day a fun bunch of people. I have to agree, however, 100 dollars is a little steep.

I agree with Hokie Jim. I saw a bear while walking down the road on my way back to the ranch... fun stuff.

Was it worth it?  Sucess!

Sure, as long as I finish off the rest

NICE to climb an easy one!  Sucess!

After weeks of the harder 14ers, it was SO nice to relax & kick back on easy class 2 Culebra (#45)! We chilled at the summit for over an hour, then saw lightening off in the distance (1st time ever to see this on a 14er summit) and decided to head down. Great day with our group of 11!

Culebra/Red  Sucess!

14' trip. Surprised at how beautiful this area was. Climb was quick. Red Mountain is ugly and reminded me of Bross. Now $150 bucks poorer.

Great Day on the "Water Snake"  Sucess!

What a great day to summit Culebra and pickup Red Mountain as well. Thanks to the crew for planning this.
