HA HA when we did the SD HP it was Bike Week also. (a few years ago) So we turned Harney Peak into a backpack trip since all the rooms and campgrounds were booked solid. (Mainly looking for a legal place to camp). We saw big cat tracks at a nearby brook crossing, it was close to where we slept. And Sylvan Lake was a nice refreshing place to swim after the hike. What a beautiful hike, almost like a mini-Yosemite.
Teddy Roosevelt was a cool surprise- what a great place! We did not expect much but really loved it- lots of animals. I wish we had more time to spend there.
The HP quest is really fun, especially with the smaller peaks like these.
