A few things...

I think you show the first pitch about 200' higher than the line we took. We belayed through the lower chimney, and traversed right above the top of it. Also, the dihedral at the top was right facing.

Re: A few things...

Steve,
I think you are right. I think we exited the chimney, to start the 1st pitch, right where I have the "3rd Class Loose" tag. And, the dihedral at the top was facing Third Needle. Isn't that left facing?

Re: A few things...

I it's typical to determine left/right facing by figuring out which side of the body the wall is on when facing the rock/mountain. By that measure, it's right facing because the wall was against my left shoulder standing at the bottom.

Hehe. I was just being a smartass.
After further consideration and consultation, I think you may be technically correct. But, neither side of the dihedral was really on the face. The right side was part of that broken section where you can see the right side shadow line in the picture. The left side was part of the face to the left. So, maybe it was a left/right facing dihedral. Or, we could just say it was just a "dihedral".

Re: great shots

rh,
Next time we will go that way. Our traverse exit out left was kind of a pain in the butt.
