After work I climbed Deer Mountain. It was a nice late afternoon/evening hike and the views were great. It was a little windy, but still pleasant.
A bit longer of a hike than anticipated since we were new to this, but very much worth it for amazing views!
Quick hike with nice rocky perches overlooking the park, and Estes and stretch the legs/lungs. Bit rainy. Longs looming to the south, which is why I was there.
Nice short hike with great views from the summit. This is my first ranked peak in RMNP.
Quick afternoon hike after spending the morning on Otis, Hallett and Flattop. Nice view from the summit, but the trip up not so interesting.
Took my 6 year old and my 8 year old up this peak for their first real mountain summit under their own power. It was right about at the edge of their stamina and i think they had fun despite much whining. Perfect weather day. I've hiked all over RMNP and after finally doing Deer Mountain, I say it's worth it!
Beautiful, warm weather today. Upper trail was full of snow. Packed pretty well, started post holing in the late afternoon.
Windy cold day with the wife.
Turned it into a loop - a bit longer day than expected
The llamas made this otherwise lame hike a little more enjoyable.
Did Deer Mountain and Eagle Cliff for our weekend peaks.
Fun little hike. Nice mild incline and stunning views of RMNP made for a great outing.
A nice, easy, hike with my wife. The trail was fairly snow free and incoming weather held off until we were down.
Climbed with my wife and four kids - had a great picnic lunch at the top
Mild hike with good views of Long's Peak. Nice choice for acclimatization.
For a flatlander such as myself, this was a perfect acclimatizing hike for Mt Yale 2 days later.
I was on my way out of the park early one morning on my way back to KS when for some reason I had the notion to stop off and get in 1 more hike. It was very worth it and had a great view of Estes Park. Listed as "strenuous" at the trail head, it is actually quite mild. It was quite snowy in March 2007 so some snowshoes would have helped but most of the snow was packed.
Guessing on the year...though it was in the late 80's. Loved the panoramic view at the top. Be a nice horseback ride too.
Started my day touring the peaks of Trail Ridge road with an ascent of Deer Mtn. Great sunrise alpenglow on Ypsilon and Longs. Even saw 2 deer, a mom and fawn, along the trail. Great start to the day!
