Twice  Sucess!

I have done this loop a couple times. It is a dying gem, sadly. Pine beetles are tearing up the forest. Go soon if you want to catch it at its most beautiful. Views are great from up top and you can combine it with Stansbury Island nearby, or camp. Good area.

Re: Twice

Most of the dead trees up there are from 2 different fires in the last 10 years as I understand it. At least on the ridge N of the trailhead and N of the saddle above Mill Fork.

Great Night Hike  Sucess!

Beautiful night under a quarter moon. Windy and cold at the summit, no surprise.

Great way to escape the heat  Sucess!

Did the loop around. The valleys on the descent were amazingly lush and green and the whole mountain was covered in wildflowers. Really fantastic hike.

23 Times.  Sucess!

1st -Jun 30, 2012 - Up Pocket Fork and down Mill Fork. Very beautiful. In my opinion this is the way to do it. Mill fork seemed pretty bland compared to the Pocket's fork side. Great day. Great hike. So many great flowers to enjoy and photograph. (Also 9th Utah COHP).
2nd - Aug 2, 2013 up and down Mill Fork.
3rd - July 19, 2014 - up and down Mill Fork. Checked out several arete's up near the top for bristlecone pine with no luck.
4th - Aug 9, 2014 - up and down Mill Fork w/ some students from GHS.
5th - Aug 1, 2015 - Up Pocket down Mill. Wonderful hike as always.
6th - Aug, 29, 2015 - Up/Down Mill - full moon hike with 2:30 am start. Made it to the top for sunrise. Gorgeous morning but very windy on top. I took a new summit register and ammo box for it. The old canister was way to small for such a popular peak.
7th - Jul, 26 2016 - Up Mill down Pocket - Hiked up for sunrise on the peak with my wife to celebrate her birthday. Happy Day sweetheart!
8th - Aug 12/13 2017- Hiked up starting at 9:00 with a few members of the Tooele County Hiking Club facebook group to bring up a new register. The old one had disappeared a few days prior. We also had hopes of seeing the Perseid meteor shower. We spent about an hour up top with clouds directly above us the entire time. Lightning was striking in every direction in small clusters in all of the distant mountain ranges but the one we were on. It was so cool to see the lightning from above out across the salt lake over by bountiful, Stansbury Island, and south and west of us. We hiked back down to the saddle and the clouds cleared for a bit and we got to see a few really good meteors before heading back down. My first time doing a hike to a major peak completely in the dark the entire hike.
9th - June 9, 2018 Hiked up with some students and a fellow teacher. Register still in good shape. (Mill Fork up and down)
10th - Sept., 2019 - Hiked to replace register - up in 2 hours (Mill Fork up and down). Brought old register to the Grantsville City Library.
11th - June 12, 2019 - Up the W. Twin Couloir w/ Crampons & Ice Axes with Durka. Started at 5:30 am and summited just before 10 am. Took the Col back down. Millions of lacewing flies were flying around the ridge and peak.
12 - Aug 17? 2019 Up Pockets fork - left a stash of food and water at pockets pass for our upcoming through-hike of the ridgeline
13 - Aug 30 - Hiked the entire Stansbury Mts ridgeline From I80 to Johnson's Pass.
14 - Oct 12, 2019 - brought up a new register - made it to peak in 1:52 my fastest time - up and down mill
15 - May 9, 2020 - up & down W twin col.
16 - May 29, 2020 - up Temple Col, Down W twin col. - traversed from their to the pass between dry/mill forks & down Mill
18 & 19 - Oct 3 - Did 2 laps from the loop counter, then clock
20 - Nov 4, 2020 - Went up to replace log book after school w/ boden.
21 - June 3, 2021 - Up Temple Col w/ Boden
22 - July 31, 2021 - Mill Fork w/ XC team
23 - Dec 23, 2021 - From bottom of Box Elder Canyon up White Pine Pass Ridge

pleasant hike  Sucess!

made a quick hike up this after driving down from Boise. Haze of Salt Lake City ruined views of the Wasatch. I did the loop hike which was not as ideal for trail running as returning down the South Willow trail

Nice Mountain  Sucess!

After an "austere bivouac" on my sister's floor in Eagle Mountain my brother and I punched this one out and were back in time for lunch. This was my first mountain outside the Pacific Northwest; I was charmed.

Wonderful Area!  Sucess!

What a great day! Deseret was surprisingly easy for an ultra-prominence peak. Also did North and South Willow Peaks. Once again, awesome place!

Yep...took longer to Drive to it than climb it...  Sucess!

Ender's Shadow helped me to climb this guy. It's a very pretty mountain and I highly recommend making the trip up it. Surprising to see this in the desert. Thanks Deseret Peak!

Deseret  Sucess!

Up South Willow Canyon, down Pocketts Fork with Stephen. Nice change of pace from the Wasatch. Saw very few people, which is always nice.

Wildflower paradise  Sucess!

I was quite impressed with the amount of water in the Stansburys (this was one of my first Great Basin mountain range hikes). The wildflowers were striking and abundant, a perfect frame for the rugged north face of the peak itself. Beautiful.

Stormed Off

Hiked from flooding closure at Medina TH. Storm rolling in from south made me bail from the saddle.
