Good Timing.....What a beautiful picture of The Great Western Trail. You caught this area just in time, fall colors wise. I ran from Gardsmons Pass to Reynolds Peak in knee deep snow last week and everything was green, brown and dead. Fall is a beautiful time in Utah. Thanks for sharing some of that beauty with us -TyeDyeTwins-

Re: Good Timing.....Thanks TyeDyeTwins! The fall colors didn’t last for very long this year. This was the only hike I got to do in the area before it snowed. At the time, the Great Western Trail and ridge were mostly yellow but at Desolation Lake it was very colorful.

Re: WowThanks! It was neat to hike in this area during autumn. In the Wasatch, the best time to see fall colors is from late September to early October.

Are you talking aboutthe SAME GWT (Great Western Trail) that runs
through the spine of Arizona, through the center of Utah up to the west end of Bear Lake, crossing into Wyoming a few times before it follows the eastern border of Idaho up to Canada?
Now, that's awesome!

Re: Are you talking aboutYes, that’s it. The GWT above Salt Lake City follows the Park City Ridge along a section which is also known as the Wasatch Crest Trail. This trail is popular with mountain bikers and hikers.
