Re: awesome

It's actually quite hard to find unless you keep it in view as you scramble up the AF Canyon side. Steep and rocky climb. No trails anywhere around.

Re: awesome

Having seen it from the air, I would try an ascent from West, up through the burnt area.

Re: awesome

Yes that side is easier to hike, but the arch is hard to find unless you know right where it is. I tried to find it twice from that side before scrambling up the east side while keeping it in sight. I wasn't sure it was real.

Devils Eye

I just hiked here a week ago. If you hike from the West side through Preston Canyon you can find a trail that starts at the bottom and leads you all the way to where all the washes converge. From there it is a bushwhack through the dead trees. I placed about fifty cairns along the way so hopefully they stay put. The only problem is that it is hidden. You have to climb a small rock wall to see it. I actually ended up on top of it before i realized where I was. If you are heading North up the ridge towards Dharma peak and pass a survey marker that looks like a big nail in the ground, you are within a hundred feet or so. If i can figure out how I will post some pictures.
