Climbed the NW side unroped. Found a solid horn on the east edge of the NW face about 10 feet below the summit. Rapped back down the NW side.
With Fred - fun climb with gorgeous views.
Climbed with Moni via the ramp on the west side.
From Dewey lake camp.
I do remember roping up for at least one pitch on an anchor I didn't like. But, we got up and down ok. Pics and map at http://www.willhiteweb.com/mount_rainier_national_park/dewey_peak/climbing_088.htm
My father and I climbed Dewey Pk from up Dewey Creek. Beautiful day, awesome views of Rainier. Saw (and heard) a bunch of elk below. Climbed Seymour Pk as well the same day, then did Tahtlum Pk the next day. I would call the last 80' more like class 4 (Beckey calls it class 3). It is all really loose and hard to protect. A rope would have been nice to rappel off the top.
Nice cool day, good view of both Rainer and Baker, until all the clouds moved in.
