Very easy, very crowded, but great views of Waikiki and the Ko'olau Range. It only takes about 45 min to go up and down, so it's worth a quick trip.

Took two leisurely strolls to the bunker at the summit of Diamonhead while on Oahu, once with my dad and sister, and again with my dad and brother. The bunker afforded a wonderful view of Waikiki beach below.

This was a fun hike and an easy one at that but it delivered a great view of the Hawaiian coastline and it was a sunny day and not too crowded so we ate a picnic lunch at the top.

While honeymooning in Oahu for several days, we hiked to the summit. It was the first 'real' hike my wife attempted and she enjoyed it. The views were fantastic!

Holy cow there were a lot of people at 9am. I jogged when I could. I'm sure people thought I was nutz when I came jogging by on the way down; in my Teva sandles. But, it was hot, and my honey (wife) was waiting for me at the TH. PS. The view from the top was stunning.

It had been twenty years since the first time I took the Diamond head crater tour. From the top of the crater you have a magnificent view of Wakiki Beach and the surrounding area...Enjoyed sitting on top of the crater soaking up the sun in the 80 plus degree weather while talking to friends freezing the buns off in Jacksonville North Carolina...

Parking lot was full at 9am, so started from a parking lot out side the entrance to the park. Took 30 minutes to summit with wonderful views of Waikiki and reef formations from the top. LOTS of people (mostly overweight and out of shape), many small children, so expect to dodge people the whole way up and down. Pillboxes line the crater rim which are interesting. Now I can brag to my friends about climbing a 761ft mountain!

The route is easy at the beginning, as it is paved. The sand trail is a bit harder as you make your way up. The stairs are crowded and it takes a while to get to the summit. Easy Climb/ Walk. Great views, as always Hawaii=Great Weather.

Route Climbed: some stupid 3rd class off trail junk Date Climbed: summer 1991  Sucess!

I parked next to a beach covered with windsurfers, climbed over at least 3 fences, and just headed up a gully, then a ridge, with some big no trespassing signs and old WWII junk. Big ugly spiny plants made the going nasty. I was about two thirds of the way to the top when a concertina wire barricade stopped me cold. Don't fuss with the US military. So I turned around, and went up the normal way, but it was fun to do some off trail hiking within site of Waikiki. What a person starved for a different experience on Oahu will try....

After a full day of scuba, parasailing and jetskiing, the hike was a great way to end the day. The first half of the trail is pretty uneventful and there isn't much to look at, but once you get some elevation under you, the views became breathtaking. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful little hike.
