Hot Hike Up A Dormant Volcano
First time in Hawaii and first hike of vacation.

Nice views
Short, easy hike from the visitor's center. Very crowded, but worth it once for the 360 views. New benchmark was placed in 2002. Interesting historical site, too.

Bees
Nice quick hike up. Bees decided on a nest site next to the trail (I'm talking on a branch within a foot of the narrow trail) and were swarming when we descended. After trying to stay calm and walking through the swarm, the trail switched back and we had to walk through them again. Inner harmony worked and neither Heidi nor I got stung.

Tourist route
Walked from hotel in Waikiki after flying in that day. First time up in about 30 years and only because the rest of the mountains were being pounded by rain.

Lovely
Nice early wander up to the top. Some interesting info signs at the beginning. Would be nice if more of the site was accessible.

Don't remember exactly when but it was early 90's. Flashlights are good. I got too friendly with a Japanese tourist in the long dark tunnel and I don't know what she said but she wasn't happy.

Diamond Head
Hiked up with Ezra Dancio and Matt Thielman. Windy at the top even at 9AM. Cool views of Waikiki and cliffs below.

Quite a crowd since it was a Friday and the trail was closed Monday - Thursday!! Nice views of Honolulu
