A quick climb
Parked at 8000 and went up the SW ridge since it had the least snow (put on crampons at 10,700). Was on the summit in 90 minutes. On the way out I enjoyed butt-sliding down to 9000, then a light jog through rotten snow til 8500. Summit to car took a mere 30 minutes!
I ascended Dickey from a cattle tank just off the Doublespring Pass road, parked at ~7,500. From there take the subridge to the southeast ridge (grass, open forest, firm rock, and compacted gravel - no escalator scree) and then follow game trails to the summit. There's minimal scree , a couple 3rd class moves, and a splendid 1.3 mile ridge walk at 10,000'+. Shortcut the descent by plunge stepping down from the low point in the ridge.
Great hike up the west ridge, and perfect clear skies. Great Mahogany patches by the base made for some successful shred hunting on the way down.

snow
nearly 10 years after an attempt was thwarted by endless scree and then too much snow up high (and lack of snow gear), I made it back for this one. Definitely tons more fun to do this in the snow. Good times with splattski and jfadgen. Had a huge glissade on the way down. Great late winter weather continues (unless you are a skier)
Could NOT have gotten a better day. Weather was great, no wind, there was still some snow and we had an awesome glisade. Took the west-northwest ridge approach.

South Ridge
Took advantage of some great December weather to climb the south ridge with Sawtooth Sean. Great views and scrambling up a steep gully were highlights. Trip Report

December Warmth?
Actually it wasn't that warm, but downright hot for LRR in Dec. SuperDave and I had a great sunny, nearly windless day ascending the South ridge. Just under the summit we took a direct route through some rock gulleys just to spice it up a bit. Good times.

Not much gas in the tank this day after expending most of it on Mount Idaho the day before.

Route Climbed: Southwest Face Direct Date Climbed: October5th/05This was a beautiful climb but incredibly difficult for only being 3 or 4 miles. The rock is so rotten its amazing. Do this one in spring.
