Inspiration pt
Dayhike from Inspiration point. Perfect weather. Couldn't find a register, but there were two full waterbottles at the summit -- weird.

Backpacked It
4 day backpacking trip through Desolation Wilderness. Definitely more challenging to climb with a large pack, but we still made it! Then we traversed over to Jacks! Long fun windy day.

Ice climbing on Dicks?
Yes it's true we hiked ice gear all the way into Dicks Peak because there was nowhere else to find ice in Tahoe. Turns out the extremely low snow and cold temps created very firm snow conditions (what there was of it) and a thick WI2 flow in a gully on the right side of the north face about 40 meters long, which we enjoyed. I don't expect to see this ever again!

Tallac, Dicks & Jacks traverse
Nice hike and great views on E side of Crystal Range with quite a bit of snow still lingering from previous week's storm. Pretty windy but it only made it bearable; very hot when calm.

Still some snow en route to Dicks Pass
Climbed with Janine Peak. The last couple hundred feet on the way to Dicks Pass had some snow, so it was tricky to follow, but the snow has melted considerably in the past couple weeks.

North face
Snowshoed from Eagle Falls trailhead. Very windy up there, but the wind scoured faces made for safe conditions and good cramponing. Not a soul in sight. Plenty of powder still out there.

Winter Trip
Snowshoed in from Eagle Falls trailhead... and had the place to myself all day. Up the middle of the North Face to Dicks Peak, then followed the ridge out to Jacks Peak. Very cold, windy, and cloudy, but scenic. Had a clear view of Mount Diablo even.

With a Telescope
A few friends, my dog and I spent the night on top of Dicks. We brought a telescope and stayed up all night and watched the Russians(USSR at the time)and Americans hook up in space. We could actually tell which craft was Soviet(roundish and green tinted) and which was American(white and cone shaped). Gerald Ford was President, Top Ramen noodles were the most exciting and revolutionary thing in backpacking and my girl friend was getting ready to dump me because I was spending too much time in the Sierras. That's the truth.

A nice solo day from Fallen Leaf Lake via Dicks Pass.
I really enjoyed the day I hiked up Dicks from Glen Alpine. Some really fine views of the area. I wish I could find my pictures from that day, it was almost 20 years ago.
