Dirk free-soloing the class 4 to easy 5 slabby section in the last pitch of Snake Dike. There is another 1000 vertical feet from here to the summit. June 2005.

No forest fire, just haze. It was a bit sketchy, you have to be really careful (have the crawling technique down). We wanted to save time since clouds were approaching.

Thanks for noticing this pic! On that stretch I was more like crawling along than walking. I started walking only when the terrain flattened significantly.

Quite the counterweight

he's wearing for a free solo venture! Love it though, just hope there was no absolute vertical pitches, maybe some lanky ribbon routes would have been more suitable. Excellent pic 10/10
