Sorry guys, I took almost the exact same picture while ice fishing in Nordegg AB, except its a raven that landed, no rabbit in sight. Its still an awesome picture and something really cool to see in person.
Edit: On second thought, there's blood on the snow, so who knows!
Nice shot, nature at it's best!
I just wonder if the owl was coming at the rabbit from the front why didn't the rabbit run away? It had to have seen the owl coming?
There has been tons of speculation about this photo. Thanks for your comments. I like your Rainier photos.
The prints truly tell the story!
Once in a lifetime shot!...very sweet!
Thanks for your comments. I hope to visit with my friend from Alaska in a few weeks who was there when the photo was taken. I plan on quizzing her about this spectacular image.
I'm sure it is a coincidence, but when I worked in the natural resources field in Wisconsin a few years ago, I swear someone emailed me this exact photo, also taken by someone in Alaska! I wasn't an original recipient, it just eventually got forwarded to me.
This is hands down one of the best pictures on SummitPost.
coolest photo's i've ever seen.
for looking and voting. Credit goes to the friend of a friend...photographer Susan Barstow who was in the right place at the right time and captured the image.
That is like...a rare and amazing shot...you are very lucky to have had the chance to get that! i am amazed
This is soooo cool. That's an epic photo. Absolutely incredible. The patterning in the snow is possibly more amazing than seeing the actual attack itself.
250!!! I think we need to break for a Pink
"Run, rabbit run!
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done;
Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one."
Judging from this and other posts I think we have similiar tastes in music. Thanks for stopping by.
One of the coolest pictures I've seen. I'd hang that on the wall if I had that.
one of a kind for sure!!
...what a perfect shot !!!
Taken by the Shaman of the Forest! At least he went quickly...poor fella!
I wonder just how high the probability degree is of stumbling over something like that!!! But, just as tazz said: Poor little bunny rabbit...
