Yes that's me! I had just found out that there were no "No-Shows" for tomorrow's standby space I had for a mule trip down into the canyon! I was one very unhappy person!

You probably didn't know it at the time, but
the mule trips going down into the "sublime
abyss" are very much OVER-RATED.

Too hot, and upon returning to the Rim, you
will have trouble WALKING back to your car.

I would suggest visiting the North Rim.

Gotta admit, with the advanced technology of
the 21st century, you can take a virtual
tour without even leaving your living room.

And, we all know that mules SMELL! Perhaps
the most positive outcome was introducing
your son to the geologic wonders of the
Colorado Plateau. Three cheers to you !!!

Thanks Larry for the sympathy. At the time I really really wanted to go down into the canyon so it meant a lot but I have gotten over it!

And hopefully at some point we will get back and see the North Rim as you suggest.

And the whole trip was a great success!

I'm not sure but an overlook probably not far from the Grand Canyon Village area I think.
