Great hike with AJ and EastKing!!!
Flower are starting to bloom on Dog Mountain. Pretty peak.
6/04/17 Hiked on rest day between climbing Adams and Helens. 1hr 5 mins to summit. Beautiful wildflowers and wild winds
Took the steepest route up to the summit with Maddie. It was about an hour and twenty minutes to the top. On the way down we took the Augspurger Trail, to make it a full loop. Will be coming back to hike that mountain and Wind Mtn soon as well. Finally a nice weather day in the PNW!
Hiked Dog Mtn with a couple of friends in 2010. One friend reached the summit with me while one did the lower loop 1,000 feet lower. It was a scenic hike and a good option since Mt. Hood and the higher peaks with in the clouds.
I think I got lucky because we didn't see any people until we reached the top. Wildflower season is definitely the time to hike this one.
Nice hike with decent views and great wildflowers, but way too crowded.
Took Augsbergers up. Considering the amount of cars in the parking lot, we were among about 5% of those who did. Came down the regular trail after a nice break at the top, but severely regretted it. It was practically a conga line the whole way. Not my style of hiking.
Seriously, the wildflowers were unreal!
Don't remember exact date. No flowers to enjoy.
I have done this hike every year since 2007, always in late May or early June, as a pilgrimage to the wildflower-filled summit meadows. This year the bloom was a week or two ahead of schedule... I think that I hit it at its peak. Photos @ http://bit.ly/13G1QFF
Great views from the top.
Muddy on the way down though...
Nice day hike
I hiked to the top of Dog Mountain via the Augspurger Trail, as the starting peak of an attempt to complete the Triple D (Dog Mountain, Mt. Defiance, Devil's Rest in a day). I got the first two on the list done, but had to bail on the last one due to some pain and discomfort in the knees of my friend (and driver).
Always a beautiful hike. One of my favorites!
Took the steep trail up and the Augspurger trail down. Wildflowers were beautiful!
fun hike. no snow except for a few patches on NE side. Had summit to ourselves, weird for Dog huh?
Stopped on my way to Vancouver, had been driving past this one for years and finally got around to hiking it.
