With Middle  Sucess!

With Rachael. Climbed via Fish creek with Middle. Dolores was more of a talus slog, but Middle had a fun ridge finish.

from Fish Creek  Sucess!

Started at Fish Creek, did Dunn first, then walked over Middle Peak, great views along its ridge, and finally Dolores. Just made it down when it was getting dark.

Via Fish Creek  Sucess!

Awesome climb to summit via Fish Creek route. Wore a bunch of blaze orange on lower parts of hike as we are in the thick of hunting season. Blue sky and warm temps. So nice to have a beautiful San Juan peak to ourselves! The Fish Creek route is a good one. Climbed this mountain (along with Middle and Dunn) from Woods Lake - Lone Cone trail a number of years ago. The Fish Creek route is MUCH easier, although has more driving to the trailhead.

From Middle  Sucess!

Nice shoulder season hike, combining Dunn and Middle. It was almost full blown winter conditions up there! Thanks for doing another 13er repeat with me, Sarah!

Buzzed on the summit  Sucess!

5/25/09 - It had been snowing and raining off and on for several days in the San Juans. We climbed Dolores' steep south slopes in heavy fog - lots of talus and scree, but also a nice little couloir. Wind picked up near summit, lots of graupel. Got buzzed on the summit as we were unpacked, taking a break - very scary! Took cover about 100 feet down before the bravest in the group went back up to retreive our gear. Needless to say, the other two peaks we had planned for the day were out of the question.

10/24/09 - Back again with a friend, no buzzing this time!

First 13er!  Sucess!

First time above 12,500 and totally worth it. The climb is fun and the views- especially of the El Diente group- are amazing.
