Last stop on a Anderson/Tinker/Lincoln/Judah/Donner loop.
Pics are here.
Nice snowshoe trip, triple bag
Hiked the NW Ridge with my dad after we found the crags to be too cold. This is a very fun hike and has an excellent view of Donner Lake.
I was using this and other Tahoe peaks as training for Orizaba when a friend asked to join me. We climbed Lincoln, Judah and Donner peaks that day. On the top of Donner his jaw dropped as he told me he had never been this high without a ski lift! Needless to say, another one is hooked!
I went on a rock climbing weekend trip with Cal Adventures (Berkeley). We spent two days rock climbing all around Donner Summit including School of Rock and some other areas I don't recall now. Was my first introduction to rock climbing and i've been hooked (and struggling for partners) ever since!)
Quick outing with several friends. Pretty good views for minimal work.
Quick snowshoe outing with the GF. Encountered roughly 20 other people and about the same number of dogs enjoying the very warm temps. and good conditions. Didn't see any fresh tracks in what looked to be fine Sierra corn. :(
(December 10, 2007) Nice weather throughout the day. Windy along the ridge
(August 10, 2012) Donner Peak, Mount Judah, Anderson Peak, Tinker Knob, and Mount Lincoln from Donner Pass
An enjoyable winter dayhike out of Donner Pass with Bob, tagging Donner Peak, Mt. Judah, Anderson Peak, Tinker Knob, and Mt. Lincoln. Great views and great weather the whole day.
First of five peaks this day along the Judah loop. Extremely smoky with terrible views all day.
Started from the old ASI parking lot (now SugarBowl Academy) and meandered up the NW ridge on snowshoes. Great views from Donner. I wanted a more direct line back to my Jeep with my snowboard so I crossed over to the N shoulder of Mt Judah and snowboarded back. Snow was great and there were lots of people on both mountains.
Climbed in bad weather and got dumped on constantly with rain, light snow, and high winds. Snowboarded backside back to railroad tracks for hike to car. Good trip and is some easier backcountry boarding...
Hiked the standard route and did some bouldering.
Have been up this a dozen times or more. Good bouldering on top.
Also summited Mt. Judah, Mt. Lincoln, Mt. Disney and Crow's Nest on the same hike.
This was the start of a five peak, 19 mile marathon hike. The air was filled with wilfire smoke which finally clear as we return from the last peak.
Fine October day. Some clouds and cool. The fall colors were just beginning to show. I did this peak in combo with Mt. Judah for an easy 2 hour hike. One of the easiest peaks I've done, but well worth the time and effort.
Hiked around with CHskier and it looks like a third SPer was there that day, too.
Never been to Donner Peak without skis on my feet. Even more crowded than during the colder months and plenty of loud, obnoxious people doing their best to ruin the quiet beauty of the area. Fun anyway. Found a couple nice looking spots to do some bouldering.
