Nice out  Sucess!

Really nice day, much better than a couple weeks back when it snowed half a foot up there and I had to turn around. Those stream crossings are still a pain, I counted 8 on the way up

2nd Time is a Charm  Sucess!

August 2015- Bagged this peak while mapping for invasive weeds. 1st attempt started in High Creek and took the north trail. Two hills north of Doubletop we hit a monstrous summer thunderstorm. We retreated as fast as we could. It was probably the worst thunderstorm I ever hiked in. Second attempt we cheated. Used ATVs and went up the Boss Canyon ATV trail to the ridge. This is my favorite peak in the Bear River Range

Ist Climb  Sucess!

First Climb was in the mid 1960's deer hunting with my dad and brother. Second climb was in 1977/. Both climbs were from the High Creek/North fork/Bear Hollow route. Third climb was from the North Fork/Turkey Trail route in 1972. Also spent two days camping in the rain around 1971-2 in the Pika Street area (the pass between the North and South summits of Doubletop. Last climb was in 2000 from the Steepie (east side from Franklin Basin). Definitely the easiest route.

Came in from the East. Trailless route. Overnight on South ridge. Best view I have ever seen of Bear River range.

3 Times!  Sucess!

The first time i climbed Double top was for a scout outing. Actually all three times were for scout related trips. The funnest one was a 35 mile hike from Tony Grove to Bloomington Lake. Doubletop was the high point of the trip along the ridge. A beautiful mountain with a great view! Be prepared for wind at the top!

Steep Hollow  Sucess!

I climbed Doubletop Mountain a few days after a big snowstorm. The road to the trailhead was wet and muddy but I still made it. I became interested in climbing the mountain after hearing my dad tell me stories about how he remembered seeing it when he was a kid. It is one of my favorite mountain climbs in the Bear River Range. There are great views from both summits.
