South Chutes/Ridge  Sucess!

It was a great climb with BlueSkyGirl. Long and plodding to start, but the higher the route climbed, the better it got.

up - SW slope / down - S ridge  Sucess!

Traversed over from Mt. Gould. Unsure of the exact route, I dropped all the way down to the lake west of the crest, then scrambled up the SW slope. Nice scrambling and exposed ledge just below the top. From there, I dropped down and followed the south ridge back to Mt. Gould, then hiked out from Kearsarge Pass.

South Col  Sucess!

Came up from unnamed lakes side. Went to the top of the bowl and found some nice routes to the ridge. Excellent views and perfect weather!

South Ridge  Sucess!

Climbed with ming21. After participating the previous day on the 2006 Sierra Challenge, I wanted an easy day. Mark and I headed out of the Onion Valley trailhead at 7:35am. Went up via the Golden Trout lake trail to the 2 un-named lakes and up the chute north of Gould pass. Climbed the south ridge and summited around 11:40am. Then, traversed on ridge over to Gould summiting by 1:00pm. Back at Onion Valley trailhead at 3:01pm (7.5 hrs car-to-car).

South Ridge  Sucess!

Great warm-up for the three days I got to participate in the 2006 Sierra Challenge. Fun class 3 rock up to Gould Pass -- climbed the wrong peak first than traversed to the correct one. My pics

Coming from Mt Gould was a real treat! I can't imagine ascending that nasty ass slope from Golden Trout - we did descend that route though. Made for a nice 12 hour loop and yummy pizza afterward!

And what's up with the empty can on top?! Despite the wind and sore toes, Dragon was served up some good cl3 action and not very scarey at all (like the name denotes).

What a fun peak to get to! Deb and I enjoyed the final section (3rd Class moves with 4th class exposure). But we were disappointed that someone ran off with the summmit log (empty canister)! We placed an SP print out of Dragon Peak in the canister as a "temporary log". If you plan to head up there, see if the SPS is replacing the register log....or intends to. : P

Fun climb - little bit of snow climbing on approach and then finished up with some cl. 3 scrambling to summit. Traversed over to Mt. Gould made for a nice loop

Nice scramble, the first destination on a Dragon-Gould-Rixford dayhike. I accidentally traversed below the infamous "holdless ledge" and climbed a spicy alternative that seemed (with some imagination) like it could match Secor's description. The real ledge is surprisingly easy.

Day 8 of the 2004 Sierra Challenge, twelve of us started out from Onion Valley, eight made it to the summit of Dragon, ten to the summit of Gould, and three to the summit of Rixford. Safe to say, we pretty much covered the area that day. Trip Report
