A work meeting brought me to MS and so i took advantage of the free airfare and tackled the "mountain" in LA. Proud to be about a quarter of the way through the 50 state highpoints.

Wet and muddy. And my knee was a mess, probably on of the only state high points I could have reached that messed up..

Driskill Detour
Not much of a hike, did it in my flip-flops on my way back from a funeral. With somber in the air I made the most of this detour by googling nearby attractions. I got lucky when I went to Lake Bistineau State Park and found a drained lake!! It was other worldly as I rode my mountain bike around the bottom of a lake bed amoungst the exposed bald cypress underwater tree root system. Just bizarre.

Uneventful quick trip at sunset. Ran out of daylight on the way back. A lot of water on the trail.

Flew into Shreveport in morning stopped for some crawfish and then headed here. Hot and humid but no issues. Start of epic road trip

Second HP for the day (first was AR) on the way back from parents taking the LONG way back to Texas. Was in a rush to get back to DFW didn't get to fully enjoy the little hike back and up to the HP. It was a beautiful day.

Started the morning here shortly after sunrise. Trees are not marked as well although it is a fairly quick high point. Definitely out in the boondocks...

Had a nice late-afternoon hike here. The "mountain" wasn't much, but the woods were scenic in their own right. Lots of bugs, though.

Highpoint #30!
Short little hike but it was HOT and HUMID! This was our 8th state highpoint in this trip and the rest had been cold, wet, or at least cool! Nice hike though!

Glad the landowners keep it open. I did it at 2 AM in the moonlight and all things considered, the summit area is nice.

Took another opportunity to make a "slight" detour while on a business trip and reach this "summit." Nice trail, easy to find w/a lot of markers. Didn't spend much time there as the bugs were eating me alive as I signed the register.

We drove FOREVER from Mississippi down into Louisiana for highpoint number 2 on the day.

State HP #31, and the second on this day. We made the loooong 6-7 hour drive from Woodall in MS earlier in the day. Driskill was also uneventful, and nothing more than a little hike through the woods to the "summit"!
