Quick and easy hike up the South Ridge
Wonderful solo hike, nice 2+ scramble at the top!!! Did the north ridge route
Another nice jaunt up Eagle Rock with my now-fiancee yesterday. Had to park above the creek and add a bit of distance to the trip, but found an easy descent shortcut down the south-southeast face. Highly recommend this little rock for first time "climbers" who want a little scrambling.
Nice little hike with good views. Easy warm-up and an accessible trailhead, even with a rental car. Soloed in May, then repeated with my girlfriend for her first summit on June 28th. Unfortunately, wildfire smoke obscured the views a bit, but it's still a great vantage point with strong rewards for the minimal effort expended!
The wife, pup and I combined with Observatory Rock and UN9870.
Different route, still fun.
The day started out pretty miserable with high winds in south park and then our car didn't enjoy the drive to Eagle Rock. We parked a couple of miles away and walked. It was a lot of fun finding our way to the summit and the views were fantastic. There was virtually no wind up top and putting some distance between the car and Eagle Rock made it more of an adventure.
With Webster Benchmark & Observatory Rock.
Need more time here.
This one looks harder from a distance, but once you are on it there are many options. We climbed the southwest ridge and then traversed over the summit and down the west side through a series of gullies and ramps. Biked over to Observatory Rock next and then eventually summit Baker Mountain as well.
Parked our truck at the Ruby Creek Crossing (east of the rock) and hiked in to do the SW Ridge. Fun scramble. Buzzed by swifts on the summit. Great view. Ambled over to Baker Mountain "D" afterwards. Nice walk. Fun day in the hills, perfect weather.
We approached from the west trailhead, but hugged the west side of Eagle Rock and looped around to the north and used the "hidden ramp" to zig-zag to the northern false summit then across the little sky bridge to the summit.
"Eagle Rock" certainly lived up to its name today. As my head popped up just above the false summit to the north of the high point of Eagle Rock I saw, yes indeed, a Golden Eagle. I nearly cried, the sight was so amazing. Of course, instead of staying calm and sneaking out my camera, I exclaimed: Sweetie! The eagle!!! She promptly turned to me with an annoyed expression and took flight.
Fun hike and scramble. Great views on what was probably the last warm weather day of the season.
Did this one along with Observatory and North Twin Cone in the same day. Awesome view of the LCW from this vantage point.
Great views in all directions. No eagles but did see a nice hawk.
