Re: Mighty is the right wordThanks brenta. I remember this clearly as one of those times when I felt very small in the face of such terrible grandeur.

Re: the snow looks like shiny silkThanks Lolli! It was truly beautiful but also terrifying, with those huge hanging glaciers and avalanche chutes. It was fantastic to look at from a distance but I had no desire to go up there. Guess I'm not a real mountaineer!

Re: That's a beauty of a shot Nelson!Thanks Radek. Unlike me, you and Shirley probably would want to go up there, and you'd knock the sucker off in a couple of days! Take care.

East - Not SouthYeh, yeh, Nelson, it's a nice shot :-)) but this is the east face of LL (same as the main title page photo), not the south. This here is the face you see when you walk north above KG and look left. That's the NE ridge on the right and the SE ridge on the left.
The S face is the big face around out of sight to the left that is directly above the river and the village of Langtang.

Re: East - Not SouthEast, shmeast. Seen one big Himalayan face, seen 'em all. :-}
Thanks for the correction, sir. I have changed the caption. Anyone been crazy enough to climb that face?

Re: East - Not SouthNope, no ascents, at least not officially. There has been a lot of unofficial climbing done in Langtang, but I think the climbing community would have heard about something like that eventually. I've looked upon it myself, way out of my league. There are some obvious ribs, difficult but natural lines, however they are all threatened by serious seracs at the top. Might change in future years.
