Camped near Steelhead Lake. Straight forward scramble. Beautiful views of North Peak and Yosemite.

Beautiful and lonely
Ascent after a fall of snow but in the sunshine. Accompanied by the howling of Coyotes (or were they Wolves?).
Only saw 3 people all day.

Via Sawmill
Accidentally passed Alpine Lake so we got a taste of the SE slope on our way to the simple East Ridge. Beautiful peak!

Descent
Descended it on the way back from linking up NW ridge of North peak, North ridge of Conness and West ridge of Conness in a day. : )

Better than going via Alpine Lake
Climbed from Sawmill Campground and returned via Alpine Lake - I found this longer ridge option to be much more enjoyable than the Alpine Lake route, thanks to less rock hopping and more quality scrambling. There is a fine 3rd class ledge system running along the south side of the pinnacled ridge from the East Buttress to the final slope leading to the summit plateau. Excellent day in the mountains!
Hiked the E ridge from Saddlebag L. After gaining the ridge, we skirted the left below the towers. Descended the chute between Conness and White. Hiked with 7 others from the SCPCS. Back at the dam in 8 hours with lots of breaks.

Downclimb for our Linkup
Downclimb soloed with Miguel. Decent for our North Peak NW Ridge -> Conness N Ridge -> Conness W Ridge linkup (all 3 routes in just under 11 hrs car-to-car). First Sierra climbing day!

complete
climbed the direct/complete ridge via Saddlebag Lake. Fun route, with class 1 - class 4 stuff. You can drop to the south side to avoid some of the difficulties of the pinnacle section.
Fun and fast, an excellent and scenic 1/2 day climb. Descended by Alpine Lake and out the gorgeous alpine meadows along the Lee Vining Creek trib.
