Pyramid and Window

Camped near timberline, climbed the magnificent Rio Grande Pyramid, then descended back to the trail and made my way up to the Window.

nice and muddy hike  Sucess!

just me and Duchess, nobody else on the trail or mountain, I think the previous days rain turned people away. The trail was very muddy, there was snow higher up. Amazing views..

East Ridge & the Window  Sucess!

I got a good early alpine start for this one from my camp on the Pass. I probably started a bit too early, as I felt compelled to take a little nap amongst the rocks once I made it to the lower reaches of the Pyramid. A little Lego man in the summit cairn was my only company on the top. After descending the Pyramid, I hiked over to the Window for a special San Juan viewing session from a very lonely and dramatic place.

east ridge in autumn  Sucess!

climbed this with my friend Mark. We found lots of snow in sections, bare trail in others. Had a nice cloudy experience on the summit but overall a great trip.
One section of the ridge, maybe 300' below the summit, was rock hard snow that deserved crampons and ice axe for safety.
Be prepared for the severely horse-trampled approach from Rio Grande reservoir.
