Highpoint #8 for me, and so far the only one I've done in a bathing suit (had the family in tow and just left Sesame Place for the day).

Route Climbed: took the road Date Climbed: 2/8/02  Sucess!

Went with my friend Kim before she left for 3 1/2 years of working/living in Japan. Initially we drove too far, and were in a bad part of Wilmington. We drove back up the road, and there was the street sign. It was a small hill to get to the top, but no more than 50 feet up from the main sub-highway. We passed the tower up to higher ground, and asked around for the highpoint location. Some kids were biking by near their house, and it occurred to me that this is the ONLY residential highpoint - (i.e. located in a neighborhood among several homes). All the other highpoints are remote, even if on somebody's land, and Jerimoth Hill, RI is in the woods.

We asked a woman where the actual highpoint was, and she pointed to a white rock. Basically, the whole street is like the highpoint, and it is really disconcerting nonetheless.

Basically, I was glad to get this one done. The Delaware Highpoint isn't too far off of I-95, and no other highpoint is anywhere near this most traveled road in the United States. It really discourages you to see how developed the land is, but considering the fact that the other 49 aren't developed like this, you should feel better.

Route Climbed: there's nothing to climb Date Climbed: August 11, 2005  Sucess!

Drove to this highpoint. Took some pictures to prove I was there, and then left. Nothing really to see.
