Approach beta please

Brian,

Could you provide some updated approach conditions? How far up the road did you get with your car? How was the trail up to the lake? A good consolidated boot pack?

Thanks,

Martin

Re: Approach beta please

Funny, someone just emailed me about this last night.

We got to within just over a mile of the trailhead, maybe a mile and a quarter out. We were in a smaller car. High clearance vehicles might be able to get in all the way. There was a Tahoe or something similar that got in to the trailhead.

Trail up to the lake was a tramped down snow highway. All packed down and easy to follow. We used snowshoes to go around and on the lake but it really isn't worth it to haul them in just for that. Most of our party did not use them at all.

Don't know how much longer I would trust the ice on the lake. Heard one crack while walking on it and it melts out to slush in some spots.

Let me guess.............you're thinking about Triple Couloirs?

Cool, thanks man. Not sure on what route, but I'd like to go in there next weekend. I heard Triple was unclimbable because the runnels are not formed. Maybe one of those 2 couloirs on Colchuck instead.

Re: Approach beta please

Yeah the North Buttress Couloir looked pretty nice and other parties had been doing it the day before we were there. Have fun.
