First time in Yosemite for Dad  Sucess!

Brought my 75 year old dad up to Yosemite Valley for his first time. We initially planned just for Yosemite Falls, but felt strong enough to proceed to El Capitan.

Walked up the back  Sucess!

I'm pretty good at doing things wrong, and I'm pretty sure the RIGHT way to get up El Capitan is to scale the 3,000 foot granite wall. But I just walked up the trail that goes around back, and stood on the highpoint. Granted, El Capitan isn't much of a mountain, it's a giant cliff, but it's famous, and it felt cool to stand on top.

Trail Run  Sucess!

Impressive trail run from Tioga Rd along Yosemite Creek. Perfect weather with skeeters making a silent arrival. Made the summit in time to have solitude before the crowds showed up. An incredible 22-mile run with a variety of scenery and terrain.

Long Day Hike  Sucess!

Started at Big Oak Flat Road trailhead. Views from El Cap summit were great. Ran into quite a bit of snow but were able to find our route. Headed to Eagle Peak then down to the Valley after that.

Loop from El Cap Meadow up the historical Old Big Oak Flat roadbed and then across to El Capitan and Eagle and a descent down the Falls trail.

The easy way  Sucess!

Went up Yosemite Falls trail and after making a side visit to Yosemite Point came back over to get Eagle Peak then continued on to El Capitan before descending back down the Falls trail. Great day! Trip report is HERE.

Yos Falls  Sucess!

The lowly hiker's route from the bottom of Yosemite Falls, made much more interesting by full snow coverage above the falls. Thanks to my maps and GPS we made it. Based on lack of boot/snowshoe tracks, we were probably some of the first hikers of the season. A fun, hard day made more interesting by all the snow.

Parade Route  Sucess!

Summer, 2006. As a former trad climber, I'm half embarrassed to sign in a visit on this legendary rock by way of the 17-mile round-trip hoof from Tamarack. But I'd always wanted to gaze from the top and just never got around to it back in the day. It was a glorious walk with the gf just the same, a sweaty good time in temps 90-100. My hat's off to all who stand on top, by way of the wall.

Nose/Lurking Fear/East Buttress  Sucess!

April 2013. Nose in a day with Hamik

03/17/2013 The Nose- awesome route. Supposedly one of the best in the world. I could see why. One day fixed to sickle ledge. Moved to El Cap tower on day 2, camp V on day 3, and summit/walk off on day 4, with Alix.

03/03/2013 Lurking Fear- First time up El Cap via a true wall. Fixed 7 pitches on day one, camped at camp 4, and blasted from the bottom to the top in about 17 hours on day 2. Topped out around midnight in a snow/wind storm, I guess that's what you get in winter sometimes haha. Fun times. With Alix and Daniel.

10/14/2012 East Buttress- cool climb. 11hours c2c from El Cap meadow. More to come I hope. With Bryan.

Upper Yosemite Falls  Sucess!

Hiked started at Camp Four( Aka Sunnyside). Hit up the Upper Falls Viewpoint, Eagle Peak, and then El Capitan Summit. It was 95+ degrees and there was thunder in the distance. Strange mix... The start of the hike is no joke... Great Day in the valley!

Pine Line  Sucess!

Looking up from the base of this giant was astonishing and awe inspiring. Although my partner and I only did the pine line it felt good to get up on the sucker! Made my imagination run wild of potential climbs to come some time down the road.

Dayhike from Tamarack Flat Campground  Sucess!

Aside from hiking on a logging/fire road for the first 3.3 miles (ugh), it was an absolutely beautiful hike. You wind your way through lush croppings of trees and a fairly descent elevation gain. I've hiked up to upper Yosemite falls, and it's not as bad of an elevation gain. Terrific weather on this day, 78 and sunny. ~17 miles roundtrip.
