Eldorado Peak in Winter

Eldorado Peak in Winter

When looking out East Eldorado Peak was like a glowing giant and had an amazing blue color on the face, the cloud cover castes an amazing mountain atmosphere. When I saw this moment I said a loud "Oh my, What a beautiful World!". This was taken from Hidden Lake Peaks on December 6, 2009 which this is looking at Eldorado's impressive West Face.

The Best

This is hands-down the best shot of Eldorado I've ever seen. I remember that I was shocked it didn't win the NWH calendar contest. If it had, I would have bought one, but I didn't want the calendar without this photo. It's a wonderful shot Josh.

Re: The Best

Thanks Adam! It was one of the greatest views I had in my mountaineering experience. As for the NWH calendar I would not be surprised if some of the greatest landscape photos in the world did not win that calendar. ;-) They are more into hiking stuff. Well at least the alternative photo was Eldorado Peak as well.

Wow!

Very nice photo depicting the Northwest aspect of Eldorado. The couloir enclosed by the NW Buttress on the left and the West Arete on the right looks interesting and I don't think its been climbed.

Re: Wow!

Thanks! Do you think the gully to the right of the West Arete has been climbed? It looks interesting.

Re: Great winter shot

Thanks Matt! Well perhaps you have not experienced enough of winter beauty to know the full story of why winter to me is so grand. And I'm not talking about small peaks, the North Cascades in Winter at the right times have some really cool scenery!
