Elephant Rock on Sardinia

Elephant Rock on Sardinia

When Hanibal was crossing with his army the Roman Empire, one of his elephants obviously came also on Sardinia. Near Castelsardo, April, 2010. *** The Elephant rock near Castelsardo, Sardinia, is more than just a local attraction. This few meters big natural sculpture, standing by the road 134, resembles an elephant, if seen from one or two angles. It is made of trachyte (a tipe of volcanic rock), and was part of the nearby mountain. The remains of a landslide were later shaped by erosion. But Elephant rock is not only a natural attraction. In the caves beneath it, two 'domus de janas' (Sardinian pre-historic chamber tombs) were discovered. On the walls of those caves animal and plant reliefs/carvings were found.

Re: wow!

I wanna see the bear !!!

When they're rocks, you don't have to feed them!

Re: wow!

I'd say they are feeding this one - otherwise, why would they charge entrance fee? Anyway, we came there before opening ;)

Re: That's...

Yes it is. Sardinia and Corsica are famous to host them a lot.
